Dancer, 12, celebrates double world championship win

Isla, a 12-year-old dancer from Burnham-on-Sea in Somerset, has achieved something truly remarkable. She recently became a double world champion at the World Freestyle Championships, which took place at the Winter Gardens in Blackpool on June 28 and 29. Isla competed in two categories: freestyle solo and slow dance. She faced tough competition, with up to 60 dancers from countries such as South Africa, Ireland, and Norway. Despite her young age and the fact that she only started dancing recently, Isla managed to win both categories, making her a double world champion.

On the day of the competition, Isla wore a black t-shirt with 'I am a world champion' written on it and had her blonde hair tied back in a ponytail. She proudly held two large trophies that were silver, black, and purple. Standing in front of an England flag, Isla smiled for the camera, clearly thrilled with her achievement. She described the experience as 'mind-blowing' and said it felt like she was 'living in a dream. ' Her mother, Fiona, was equally amazed, saying, 'To achieve something like this, being so young, is crazy. ' Fiona explained that Isla was extremely nervous after her first win on Saturday. Isla even told her mom that she couldn't feel her legs and slipped during her opening move in the final. Despite this, Isla didn't let her nerves stop her and went on to win the second title the next day.

Isla's dance school, Dynamics School of Dance in Bristol, is incredibly proud of her. Emma Mounter, the head of the school, said, 'Everyone at the dance school is just super proud. She's extremely hard working and anything we throw at her, she takes on the chin and works exceptionally hard. ' Isla expressed her gratitude to her dance teachers, Ms. Mounter and Maizie Rugman, as well as her sponsor, Alex Weston, for all their support. Her mother said she still couldn't believe what Isla had accomplished and was excited to see what the future holds for her daughter.
