Boy, 5, is world’s youngest to use bionic hero arm
A five-year-old boy from Long Island in New York has made history by becoming the youngest person in the world to receive a bionic hero arm. Jordan, who was born without a left hand, can now use his Iron Man-style arm to grip his scooter. His mother, Ashley Marotta, said that the arm was an 'instant confidence boost' for him. The arm was custom-made and 3D-printed by a company called Open Bionics, which is based in Bristol. Jordan's mother had been following the company on Facebook and contacted them when they opened a clinic in New York. 'Initially we were told he was too young and we convinced Open Bionics to see us and luckily he picked it up right away,' she said. 'It was an instant confidence boost; the Hero Arm really makes him feel like a superhero and he is superhero obsessed.
