How Music and Marathons Helped Cameron Find His Tribe and Shine

Cameron Jacobs, a 20-year-old from Salisbury, has found a sense of belonging and confidence through music. Living with autism, ADHD, and Tourette's, Cameron often felt left out and struggled to find a group where he was accepted. That changed when he joined Orchestras for All, a charity that helps young people from all backgrounds learn and play classical music together. Cameron describes music as a new language that allows him to connect with others and express himself in ways he never could before.

Before joining the orchestra, Cameron had been out of school for nearly a year and faced rejection from many clubs and schools. His mother, Polly, remembers how difficult it was to watch her son feel so isolated. But Orchestras for All welcomed Cameron for who he is, and for the first time, he felt truly accepted. Cameron says he was thrilled to join and finally found a community where he could be himself and enjoy making music.

Since becoming part of the orchestra, Cameron has achieved remarkable things. He became an ambassador for Orchestras for All, helping to inspire other young people. In 2025, he ran the London Marathon barefoot to raise money for the charity, setting a Guinness World Record as the youngest person to do so. His story went viral, with millions watching him thank his mother for her support. Cameron has also started a club to encourage others to be active and has helped many young people develop their musical and life skills. He now hopes to work in community music or become a music teacher. Orchestras for All will be performing a free concert in Salisbury, and Cameron is excited to be part of it.
