City show returns with 90s nostalgia theme

The City Show is making a grand return, and this year it is themed around the nostalgia of the 90s! People are thrilled to participate and reminisce about the joyful moments from that decade. Councillor Jabbar Riaz, who represents West Midlands, expressed that the show has always been known for its 'fantastic festival atmosphere. ' At a previous Worcester Show, attendees were seen wearing vibrant costumes and holding signs that read 'Mela' or 'Worcester Show. ' The crowd was lively, with arms raised in excitement, enjoying the sunny weather on the grassy fields. This year, the show invites everyone to take a delightful journey back in time with the theme 'I Grew Up in the 90s. ' Organizers believe that whether you were a fan of the bands Blur or Oasis, or simply loved the cheerful vibes of the decade, there will be something enjoyable for everyone at the event taking place at Pitchcroft on August 10. Councillor Jabbar Riaz, who chairs the Worcester City Council's communities committee, stated that the show is a celebration of the city at its finest and consistently maintains a 'fantastic festival atmosphere. ' Additionally, BBC Hereford & Worcester will be featuring local bands at the show. Rhidian Jones, the executive editor, mentioned that some of the most talented local artists will be taking the stage. This one-day event is dedicated to celebrating local produce, gardening, crafts, and community spirit. The 90s theme was selected to align with the summer exhibition by the Worcester City Art Gallery and Museum, which is revisiting the vibrant days of the 90s. Attendees can look forward to a variety of entertainment and delicious food, with competitions playing a significant role, featuring over 170 categories ranging from flowers and photography to handicrafts and culinary creations. The local Ukrainian community group will showcase colorful displays and traditional food, while the Worcestershire England Filipino Association will present a vibrant mix of cultural performances. The BBC will set up two stages for the event. The BBC Hereford & Worcester Main Stage will offer a diverse range of musical styles to keep the audience dancing, while the BBC Upload Stage will provide a laid-back atmosphere for emerging artists to shine. Mr. Jones emphasized, 'It's a day that brings the city together, and we're proud to support some of our most talented local artists by bringing them to our stages. It's going to be a great day.
