Bradford College Rolls Out £19M Futuristic Auto Tech Hub for 650 Students
A new state-of-the-art Motor Vehicle & Engineering building has been unveiled at Bradford College in West Yorkshire. This impressive facility, located at Junction Mills, cost £19 million to build and is designed to support up to 650 students who are interested in learning about modern automotive technology, digital engineering, electric and hybrid vehicles, and advanced manufacturing. The college has announced that the upper floors of the building are already finished, and the entire construction project is expected to be completed by the end of June. The official opening is set for September, and students are already applying for courses, with some classes nearly full.
The college believes this new building is a big step forward in preparing young people for jobs in a low-carbon economy. The building itself was designed with sustainability in mind, using materials and methods that help save energy and reduce carbon emissions. In fact, it is the only new building project in Yorkshire to receive a platinum certification for outstanding carbon savings. The Junction Mills site will help students get ready for careers in industries that are changing quickly, especially as more companies look for workers who understand new technology and care about the environment.
Chris Malish from Bradford College says that the new building will put the college at the front of vehicle and engineering studies because it has all the latest technology and strong partnerships with businesses. He believes this will make it easier for students to find jobs after they finish their studies, which will also help local businesses find skilled workers. The four-story building was built by Morgan Sindall Construction, with most of the funding coming from the Department for Education’s Further Education Capital Transformation Fund and a contribution from the college itself. Ben Hall, the area director for Morgan Sindall, says this project is important for the college and the whole region because it will train the next generation of skilled workers. The college is looking forward to welcoming students to this modern and environmentally friendly facility.
