Radio 1's Live Lounge Month: Jorja, Sam Smith & Chase & Status Rock October!

BBC Radio 1's Live Lounge month is set to return this October, bringing together a mix of well-known and rising artists for special live performances. Among the headline acts are Jorja Smith, Sam Smith, and Chase & Status, each of whom will perform both their own songs and cover tracks from other artists. Jorja Smith's appearance follows the release of her third album, What Are The Odds, which has received positive reviews from critics. Sam Smith, who recently released their fifth album Hazel Eyes, will also be featured during the first week of the event. Chase & Status, fresh from headlining the Reading and Leeds Festival, will showcase their electronic music talents in the studio.

The Live Lounge sessions are a tradition on Radio 1, where artists perform acoustic versions of their songs and surprise listeners with unique covers. This year, the show will be hosted by Charlie Hedges and Jeremiah Asiamah, who are both excited to take on the new roles. The sessions will air every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at midday throughout October. The line-up includes indie band Blossoms, singer-songwriter Rachel Chinouriri, US rappers Anderson . Royal Blood, a duo from Brighton, will close out the month, with a mystery artist set to perform just before them.

Charlie Hedges previously hosted the Live Lounge alongside Rickie Haywood-Williams and Melvin Odoom, but the show has undergone a schedule shake-up. Hedges expressed her excitement about the new partnership with Asiamah and sent her support to her former colleagues.
