From the Beatles to Queen and Elvis, cover band Jabroni celebrate having ‘one of the best rhythm sections in all of Korea’

Jaeson Yoo, the lead guitarist for the cover band Jabroni, has a fascinating life. By day, he works a regular job, and by night, he rocks out on stage. He was born in Korea but moved to the United States when he was nine. He returned to Korea in 2011 and started playing guitar seriously in college. In 2018, he formed a Beatles tribute band called the Beagles, and later joined another called the Mentles.

Jabroni, which started in late 2021, is different from his previous bands because they play a wide variety of music. They have a huge list of songs, including 38 Beatles hits and 73 songs from other famous artists like Elvis, Queen, and even modern acts like Coldplay. The band members and their close friends choose songs by voting, and they've only ever disagreed on three songs. The name Jabroni, which means 'fool,' reflects their lighthearted approach to music.

The band is made up of diverse members, including Mistarr Park, who adds a touch of humor with his costumes, and Yohan Lepoetre, the French keyboardist who appreciates the band's good vibes. Jaeson is proud of Jabroni's rhythm section, boasting that it's one of the best in Korea. The band also features guest musicians like Jang Min-hwa and Steve Pearson. Jaeson's wife, Yun Hai-young, supports the band as their informal manager. Jabroni doesn't focus on long-term plans; instead, they value strong relationships and appreciation for each other.
