easyJet has recently implemented the use of artificial intelligence (AI) at their new control centre near Luton Airport, Bedfordshire. This AI tool, known as Jetstream, has proven to be beneficial in helping the operations teams manage flights more effectively. With a daily programme of about 2,000 flights, the airline has been able to utilize AI to predict standby crew requirements and recommend the best crew options for each operation. The control centre, which houses over 250 staff, is responsible for various tasks including planning routes, allocating pilots and cabin crew, arranging aircraft maintenance, and managing passenger communications. Johan Lundgren, the chief executive of easyJet, expressed his satisfaction with the new facilities, stating that the use of AI has contributed to improving customer experience, operational efficiency, and reducing food waste. He also mentioned the airline's commitment to further invest in and expand their use of AI to enhance their services.
