How TikTok Live Sales Turned £100K in a Day Into a Business Boom!

Daisy Kelly is the founder of Glow For It, a beauty business that started because of her own struggle with pulling out her eyelashes. She used to cover up her habit with lash extensions, but when salons closed during the Covid pandemic, she decided to create her own eyelash serum. Daisy began her business at her mother's kitchen table in 2020 while she was still a student. Today, Glow For It makes about six million pounds in sales each year. A big part of her success comes from selling on TikTok Shop UK, especially through live shopping events. Daisy believes that live shopping helps people feel more connected and involved. She says, 'We actually generated over one hundred thousand pounds in just one twelve-hour TikTok live. ' This has changed her business in a big way. Daisy's company goes live from a studio for at least six hours every day. Different presenters show off the products and answer questions from shoppers. She compares it to having five hundred people in her shop at once. Live shopping is becoming more popular, with platforms like Instagram Live, YouTube Shopping, eBay, and Amazon Live all offering ways for sellers to connect with customers. According to a survey by Savvy Marketing, thirty percent of shoppers have bought something from a live shopping event. Catherine Shuttleworth, the CEO of Savvy, says that big retailers need to pay attention to live selling or they could miss out on a big opportunity. TikTok Shop reports that its UK sales grew by more than thirty percent in June compared to last year, with live shopping being the fastest-growing part. There are now more than six thousand live streams happening every day on TikTok Shop UK. At a recent event in Covent Garden market, TikTok brought together twenty small businesses to sell live to customers across the UK. One of them was Manny Malik, a halal butcher from Wolverhampton. With just a smartphone, some lights, and a fridge full of meat, Manny had about two hundred people watching his live session. In three hours, he sold eight thousand pounds worth of meat, which would normally take him three or four days to sell in his shop. Thanks to TikTok, he is now opening a second store. TikTok Shop UK takes up to nine pence from every pound sold as a commission. For comparison, eBay charges between 6. 9p and 14. 9p depending on the category, and eBay Live charges up to 8. 42p including payment processing. Manny says the fees are high, but the extra sales make it worthwhile. Another business owner, Buket Sevik, started her jewelry brand Adorina after leaving her job as a business manager. Since she began live selling on TikTok Shop UK in May, her orders jumped from fifty a month to five hundred a week. She now streams from a small unit instead of her dining table and is looking to hire help because demand is so high. Buket enjoys the flexibility of live streaming, especially as a mom. She can put her daughter to bed and then go live to sell her jewelry. A survey found that sixty-six percent of Gen Y and Gen Z shoppers are more likely to buy something if they see it selling out or going viral. However, some experts warn that live shopping can lead to overspending. Rebecca Lamb from Money Wellness says that buying quickly during live events can give people a rush, similar to gambling, and because payment is so easy, shoppers might spend more than they realize. She advises people to be careful and think before making purchases during live shopping events.
