Loopfest Rocks Shrewsbury: Boosting Local Music and Young Talent!

Loopfest is a new music festival in Shrewsbury that aims to support local artists and young people interested in music. Jamie Smith, one of the founders and the director of the festival, explained that any money made from the festival or its new main venue will be used to help grassroots artists and give young people opportunities in the music industry. The festival will take place over three days and will feature more than 250 acts performing at 40 different venues, including well-known places like Shrewsbury Castle and The Quarry. The festival is named Loopfest because the River Severn forms a loop around Shrewsbury’s town center. To prepare for the festival, Jamie and his team had to turn an old mini golf building into a live music venue. They only had six weeks and a budget of two thousand pounds to do this. The building was in bad shape, with graffiti on the walls and old golf equipment everywhere. Jamie said it would not have been possible to get the venue ready without the help of many volunteers who worked hard to clean and fix it up.

Jamie Smith wants people to know that when they buy a ticket to Loopfest, they are not just paying for a fun weekend of music. They are also helping to support the creative arts in Shrewsbury. The money raised will be used to create new experiences for young people, such as DJ workshops and other music activities. Jamie hopes that Loopfest will help people in Shropshire and beyond to develop their musical talents and grow as artists.
