Meta Slashes 10% Jobs as AI Takes Over the Workload

Meta, the company behind Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp, has announced that it will cut about 10 percent of its workforce, which means around 8,000 employees will lose their jobs next month. This decision comes as Meta plans to spend more money than ever before on artificial intelligence, or AI. According to a memo sent to employees, Meta will spend $135 billion on AI this year, which is about the same amount it spent on AI in the last three years combined. The company will also stop hiring for thousands of open positions.
