ChatGPT-maker Open AI pushes out co-founder and CEO Sam Altman, says he wasn’t ‘consistently candid’
The board of directors at OpenAI, the creators of the artificial intelligence program ChatGPT, announced that they have removed Sam Altman from his position as CEO. They found that he wasn't always completely honest in his discussions with them. Because of this, they lost trust in his leadership. Mira Murati, who is the chief technology officer at OpenAI, will take over as the temporary CEO while they look for someone to permanently fill the role.
Sam Altman shared his thoughts on a social media platform, expressing his gratitude for the time he spent at OpenAI and the talented team he worked with. He started OpenAI as a non-profit research lab in 2015, and it has since become well-known, especially after the popularity of ChatGPT. Sam has been in the spotlight, touring the world and speaking at various events about the potential of AI and the importance of having rules to keep it safe for humanity.
As OpenAI goes through these changes, their partnership with Microsoft remains strong. Microsoft has invested a lot of money in OpenAI and provides the computing resources needed for their AI systems. They are committed to supporting Mira Murati and the OpenAI team. Sam Altman, recognized as a prodigy in Silicon Valley, was previously the head of a startup incubator called YCombinator, where he was praised for his intelligence and effectiveness in the startup industry.
