Aardman Animations, the well-known animation studio from Bristol, is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year with a brand new exhibition. The event, called Larger Than Life: Starring Wallace & Gromit, Shaun and More, will open at Lightroom in King's Cross, London, on October 14. This immersive exhibition will let visitors step into the worlds of Aardman's most beloved characters, including Wallace & Gromit, Shaun the Sheep, and Morph. The experience will last about 50 minutes and will loop, so people can join at any time and not miss anything.

The exhibition is designed to be much more than just a display of old movie clips. It will combine famous scenes from Aardman's films with new animations, never-before-seen drawings and materials from the studio's archives, and behind-the-scenes looks at how the stop-motion movies are made. Nick Park, the creator of Wallace & Gromit, says the show lets people experience the characters in a way that really shows off the hand-made, creative spirit of Aardman. He explained that from the first sketches of Wallace & Gromit to the silly adventures of Shaun the Sheep, the stories are always about heart, careful detail, and a good laugh.

Peter Lord, who co-founded Aardman, says the exhibition is a celebration of the craft behind the animation. He believes the real magic of Aardman is not just making things move, but making them feel alive. Visitors will get to see how the movies are made, from early drawings to finished scenes, including famous moments like the train chase in Wallace & Gromit: The Wrong Trousers. The show was created with help from 59 Studio, which has worked on other big productions at Lightroom. David Sabel, the executive producer at Lightroom, says the exhibition is meant to feel like a visit to the Aardman studio in Bristol. He wants visitors to feel like they are shrinking down and entering the miniature world of the characters.

The exhibition is just one part of a bigger celebration for Aardman's 50th anniversary. There will also be a new film released later this year called Shaun the Sheep: The Beast of Mossy Bottom. The exhibition and the new movie are both ways for fans to celebrate the creativity and fun that Aardman has brought to audiences for half a century.
