In a related incident, a 37-year-old man was arrested in Jackson Township, New Jersey, for allegedly starting a fire by firing his shotgun. Richard Shashaty is facing multiple charges, including arson, according to the New Jersey Forest Fire Service. In southern California, firefighters have made progress in containing the Mountain Fire in Ventura County, which has burned over 20,000 acres and destroyed 132 structures, primarily homes, in just two days. The cause of this fire is still under investigation. California officials have noted that the fires have spread rapidly due to the Santa Ana winds, which are dry, warm, and gusty winds that blow from the interior toward the coast during the autumn months.
