'I've been stabbed': US teacher recounts China attack
David Zabner, a teacher from the United States, was one of the four instructors from Cornell College in Iowa who were attacked in Beishan Park in the Jilin province of China. The attack, which involved a 55-year-old man named Cui, left David and his colleagues with non life-threatening injuries. The assailant clashed with one of the Americans and then went on to injure three other US visitors and a Chinese tourist who tried to come to their rescue. The attack was described as an isolated incident and was a rare occurrence for foreigners in China. David Zabner's brother, Adam, expressed gratitude that David survived the attack and mentioned that the US State Department and Iowa's federal delegation were working to bring him back to the United States. National security adviser Jake Sullivan also expressed deep concern over the stabbing and stated that the US was in touch with their Chinese counterparts and the victims of the attack to ensure they were receiving help and that appropriate law enforcement steps were being taken.
