Zimbabwean Chefs Unite Cultures with Flavorful Africa Week Feast

Two Zimbabwean chefs, Tendai Chatama and Nyamwererei Chatikobo, are using their cooking skills to bring people together during Africa Week. They work at a restaurant called Taste of the Motherland and are excited to share their culture with others. Africa Week is organized by the charity Friends of Africa and includes visits to schools and care homes. The goal is to teach people about African culture through food, music, and fashion. Tendai and Nyamwererei will have a food stall in Royal Square, where they will serve traditional Zimbabwean dishes like gango, which is made with four different types of meat.

Tendai believes that Africa Week helps people feel connected to their roots, even when they are far from home. She says that the event brings diversity to the island and helps everyone learn about different cultures. Nyamwererei agrees and says that sharing Zimbabwean food is a way to keep their culture alive. She feels proud to serve food in Royal Square, a place where people from all backgrounds can come together. Both chefs think that food is a powerful way to connect people and share stories about their homeland.

The Africa Week celebrations take place from 4:00 PM to 10:00 PM on Thursday and Friday. During this time, people can enjoy not only food but also music and fashion from different African countries. Tendai and Nyamwererei hope that their food will help people understand more about Zimbabwe and Africa. They want everyone to feel welcome and to celebrate the unity and diversity that Africa Week brings.
