Film festival set to host 80 screenings over a week

The Northampton Film Festival is set to take place soon, and it promises to be an exciting event for film lovers! This year, the festival will feature over 80 screenings throughout the week, showcasing a diverse range of films. The festival, which is now in its fourth year, will kick off on Friday with a gala event at the historic Delapre Abbey in Northampton. Becky Carrier, the festival organizer, expressed her excitement about the growth of the festival since its inception in 2019. The first festival had only 14 events and attracted around 700 attendees, but this year, they are aiming for more than 1,200 admissions! Importantly, the festival is not limited to local filmmakers; submissions are welcome from filmmakers across the UK. In addition to Delapre Abbey, events will also be held at the University of Northampton, the Northampton Filmhouse, the Guildhall, and the Creative Space located in the Market Square. A notable feature of this year's festival is the inclusion of three events in honor of International Women's Day. One of these events will be a 'people library' where attendees can engage in one-on-one conversations with women working in the film and television industry. This initiative aims to inspire and empower individuals interested in pursuing careers in film. Although the festival is still in the final stages of preparation and will conclude on March 15, Mrs. Carrier is already thinking ahead to next year's festival.
