Meet South West's 6 Rising Stars Ready to Rock 2026!

BBC Introducing has revealed its top six artists from Devon and Cornwall to watch in 2026, highlighting the region's vibrant music scene. From the bustling city of Plymouth to the scenic towns of Penzance and Truro, Devon and Cornwall are home to many talented musicians. Local venues and festivals provide plenty of opportunities for these artists to showcase their music. BBC Introducing presenters Daniel Pascoe, Will Marshall, and Laura Edmonds have selected six acts they believe are set for a breakthrough year.

Frey, an artist from Plymouth, has been making waves with her unique take on jungle music. Her songs blend emotional lyrics, catchy melodies, and a fresh style that works for both parties and relaxing at home. Frey's single Game Boy, released in September 2025, gained national attention and was praised for its experimental sound. She told BBC Introducing that she was thrilled her music connected with so many people. Frey has already performed at major festivals like Boardmasters and received airplay on BBC Radio 1. Her recommended tracks include Game Boy, Grow, and Disconnect.

Abbie Piper, who grew up in Cornwall, is quickly building a reputation as a heartfelt performer. She only started sharing her music online at the end of last year, but her powerful vocals and debut EP Mirror Talk have already impressed many. Daniel Pascoe believes Abbie is set for an incredible 2026, noting that having two consecutive Tracks of the Week is almost unheard of. Abbie is also catching the attention of national radio and festival organizers. Her standout songs are Save Your Love and Better On My Own.

Tom Hannigan is another rising star. After a successful 2025, his singles are proving he is one to watch. His song You, which reflects on love and timing, was named Track of the Week last April. Tom played his first headline show in Plymouth and even appeared briefly on a Netflix documentary. He cites Harry Styles, Billy Joel, and A-ha as influences and released a cover of A-ha's Take on Me. Charlie Noordewier, formerly the frontman of Native, had a standout year in 2025 as a solo artist. He supported Sam Fender in front of 40,000 people in Manchester and achieved BBC Radio 1 success with his single Toy Soldier. Charlie grew up near Dartmoor, where he was introduced to a variety of music by his grandfather. He formed several bands in school and developed his songwriting and performing skills. His top tracks are Toy Soldier, Little Miss Sunshine, and Moonlight Hotel.

Kai Bosch, raised in Polzeath, made a strong impression in 2025 with his EP Popstar of Your Dreams. The four-track project is energetic and lively, perfect for fans of pop music. Kai performed live at the BBC Maida Vale Studios and received multiple plays on BBC Radio 1. He was also recognized by Elton John. His recommended songs are Angel, Popstar of Your Dreams, and Summer of Love.

Liang Lawrence from Devon is inspired by artists like Holly Humberstone and Beabadoobee. She represented the region at Radio 1's Big Weekend in May 2025 and earned a Track of the Week with her single A Day off in Margaritaville. Liang will join Matilda Mann on a European tour in 2026. Her EP It's a Funny Thing is a must-listen for fans of folk-rock, indie, and acoustic pop. Top tracks include A Day off in Margaritaville, Kiss My Apocalypse, and If Only.
