Bristol's Drum & Bass Bike Bash: Hundreds Ride to the Beat!

Hundreds of people took part in a drum and bass cycling event in Bristol, the city where the project first began. The annual event, led by DJ Dom Whiting, started in 2021 after the coronavirus pandemic and has grown in popularity each year. Dom Whiting explained that the project began as just one boy on a bike with DJ decks, but now it has become something he plans to continue for many years. People from all over the country came to join the ride. Michael Wood traveled from Birmingham to be part of the event. He said it was the best thing he had ever done and that he loved the experience. He enjoyed showing off his bike and trainers and thought Bristol was the perfect place for the event because of the friendly people. Wood said he had been going to raves and festivals for 20 years, but he liked this event even more because it was out in the street with everyone.

Jess, a local from Bristol, said this was her third time joining the drum and bass cycle. She described the event as having a strong community atmosphere and said that music really brings people together. She enjoyed the good vibes and said it made people smile. DJ Dom Whiting said Bristol has a unique vibe and that he always feels drawn back to the city. He wore a white and red Bristol top and waved to the crowd while people filmed him on their phones.

Dom Whiting said it felt surreal to see the event grow so much and described coming back to Bristol as a full circle moment. He said Bristol has a big musical culture and is the home of drum and bass music. He wants to keep doing the event for many more years.
