Twelve dead from carbon monoxide poisoning at Georgia ski resort

A tragic incident occurred at the Gudauri ski resort in Georgia, where twelve individuals lost their lives due to carbon monoxide poisoning. According to police reports, the bodies of eleven foreign nationals and one Georgian citizen were discovered in a sleeping area located above an Indian restaurant. This area was on the second floor of the building. Preliminary investigations revealed that there were no signs of violence on the bodies, indicating that this was likely an unfortunate accident. The AFP news agency reported that the incident took place after an oil-powered generator was activated following a power outage in the building on Friday. The bodies were found the following day, Saturday. Authorities have initiated an investigation into the circumstances surrounding this tragic event, but they have not yet released the identities of the victims. Gudauri is a popular destination for skiing and snowboarding enthusiasts, offering a variety of winter sports activities suitable for visitors of all skill levels. The resort has a rich history that dates back to the 19th century when it served as a trading post connecting Russia and Georgia. It is situated about 120 kilometers, or 75 miles, north of Tbilisi, the capital city of Georgia.
