Universal UK Resort Unveiled: £1.3bn Boost for Epic New Theme Park!
Universal has officially revealed the name of its new UK theme park, which will be called Universal United Kingdom Resort. Along with the name, the company also shared the first look at the park's logo, featuring a blue globe surrounded by stars and the park's name. The resort will be built in Kempston Hardwick, Bedfordshire, and is expected to open in 2031. Universal's parent company, Comcast NBCUniversal, plans to invest £5 billion in building the park, with an additional £1 billion to be spent over the first ten years. The UK government is supporting the project with £1. 3 billion, which will be used to improve local infrastructure and transport links, making it easier for visitors from across the country and overseas to reach the park.
The government funding will help upgrade Wixams station, which is the closest Thameslink stop to the resort, and improve the A421 road. These upgrades are expected to cost £474 million. There are also plans for a new East West Rail station at Stewartby. Chancellor Rachel Reeves visited the site, where construction has already started, and said the investment would help the UK economy grow by nearly £50 billion and create thousands of jobs. She explained that the government's investment in transport and infrastructure would benefit local people, support creative industries, and attract millions of visitors to the UK.
Universal has already hired more than 100 people in the UK to work on the project, and the company promises to create 20,000 jobs during the construction phase. Once the park opens, another 8,000 jobs will be available, with about 80 percent going to people from Bedfordshire and nearby areas. The park will cover 268 hectares and include a large lake, themed zones, and several roller coasters. There will also be a free entertainment and shopping district that anyone can visit without a ticket. Universal hopes to reach 12 million visitors a year within the first 20 years. While the company has not confirmed which rides will be included, they have mentioned the possibility of attractions based on James Bond, The Lord of the Rings, Paddington, and Jurassic World. Universal promises the park will offer immersive storytelling, thrilling attractions, and creative experiences for guests from around the world.
