A new robot has helped a 15-year-old girl named Brooke Hacker walk for the first time in her life. Brooke lives in Swansea, Wales, and has cerebral palsy, a condition that makes it very hard for her to move and walk. The exoskeleton costs between £40,000 and £50,000, which is about the same as a mid-sized car. Brooke's family hopes that this technology will become available to more children across the country. Brooke has been going to physiotherapy sessions for over a year and was one of the first children to try the robot. Another child, three-year-old Hopcyn, also got to try the exoskeleton. His parents, Carys and Marc, were told that he might never walk, but seeing him take steps with the robot was an overwhelming experience for them. The robot is already being used in countries like the USA, Canada, Australia, and Singapore. The creators of the robot hope that it will be used more widely in the UK in the future. They believe that new technology like this can give hope to many families and help children become more independent.
