Sussex Artists Throw Open Doors for Festive Art Festivities!

In Sussex, artists are preparing for the holiday season by opening their homes to the public as part of the Artist Open Houses festival. Adam Johnson, who became well-known as a finalist on the Great Pottery Throw Down in 2021, and his husband Dan Mackey are among those participating. Their home on Rugby Road will be open to visitors this weekend and next, giving people a chance to see their art and crafts up close. Adam, dressed in a green Christmas jumper, and Dan, in a red checked shirt, are excited to welcome guests into their garden and home. The festival, which runs every Saturday and Sunday until 14 December, features about 60 artists and creatives from Brighton and the surrounding coastal areas.

Adam expressed his excitement about returning to the festival after a five-year break, calling it a 'Brightonian treasure. ' He said this year is the biggest yet, with more than 60 houses involved. Adam and Dan have filled every room in their house with different craft creations, offering visitors a variety of things to look at. Adam, who reached the final of the pottery competition on television, said that participating in the festival has taken his pottery to a 'whole new level. ' He is looking forward to the free festival and hinted that if the atmosphere is especially festive, they might even open their home for an extra day.
