He shared his tool online, and hundreds of people have downloaded it. The tool works by checking for signs like a high number of releases from an artist, cover art that looks computer-made, and other clues. Cedrik says it's all about giving listeners a choice: if you want to hear AI music, you can, but if you don't, you should be able to avoid it. He wishes Spotify would make it easier for users to filter out AI music themselves.

Many Spotify users agree with Cedrik. Some say AI music just doesn't sound right, while others simply prefer music made by humans. Spotify has started testing a feature that shows in a song's credits if AI was used, but this system relies on artists telling their record labels, so it's not always accurate. Spotify admits that building a complete system to label AI music is difficult and would require the whole music industry to work together. Experts say Spotify is in a tricky position. If they don't provide enough information about AI music, they could lose the trust of listeners and artists. But if they try to label everything, it could be hard to decide what counts as AI music, especially since some songs are only partly made by computers.

Other music streaming services are taking different approaches.
