Dr Nicolas Pillai, a researcher, discovered the lost film in 2017 while working at Birmingham City University. He was thrilled to find it, as it captured an important moment in both Ellington's career and the history of Coventry Cathedral. The film was restored and released on DVD, allowing more people to experience the concert. The event is remembered as a landmark in British jazz, showing how music can bring people together in new and unexpected places.
