Bollywood Brings 80s Drama to Hull’s Lively City Streets This Winter!

Hull, a city in East Yorkshire, is about to become the backdrop for a new Bollywood film called 'Dastaar'. Bollywood is the famous film industry from India, known for its colorful stories, music, and dance. The movie 'Dastaar' is set in the 1980s and tells a story about courage, faith, and identity. This is the first time a Bollywood production will be partly filmed in Hull, and the city council is thrilled about it. They believe it is fantastic that another film company has chosen Hull for their project, showing that the city is becoming popular for filmmakers.

Filming will take place at 16 different locations in the city center, including High Street, Prince Street, and Dagger Lane. The shoot will run from 16 November to 9 December. The council has promised to inform residents and businesses about the filming schedule and locations so that everyone knows what to expect. While the roads used for filming will stay open, there will be temporary closure notices to help manage traffic and keep everyone safe.

Manjot Singh Bajwa, the director of Hotshot Production Limited, said he is delighted to be making the new film in Hull because it is such a vibrant and interesting place for filming. He is excited to bring Bollywood to the city's streets. Hull has already been the location for other movies and TV shows, such as 'Enola Holmes 2', 'The Crown', 'Blitz', and 'The Extraordinary Life of David Copperfield'. The new Bollywood film 'Dastaar' is expected to be released in cinemas in July 2026. The city is looking forward to seeing its streets on the big screen and welcoming the Bollywood crew.
