Haircut 100 Rocks Guilfest: Reunion Tour and New Album Buzz!

Haircut 100, a well-known Brit-funk band from the UK, is making a big return to the music scene. The group first became famous in the early 1980s with their hit single Favourite Shirts Boy Meets Girl, which climbed to number two on the UK Singles Chart. Their debut album, Pelican West, was also a big success and helped them gain fans all over the world. After their album came out, the band went on a global tour. However, in 1983, lead singer Nick Heyward decided to leave the group. He was dealing with a lot of stress and depression because of the busy schedule and constant pressure.

After nearly four decades apart, Haircut 100 reunited in early 2023. The band members are excited to be back together and are enjoying making music again. Nick Heyward, the frontman, said that being with the band feels like living out their childhood dream. He mentioned that sometimes they act like teenagers backstage, joking and having fun just like they did when they first started. Heyward also reflected on how he wishes he had the same energy and work ethic in his 30s and 40s as he does now in his 60s. He believes that getting older and staying healthy is the key to their new success.

The band is set to perform at Guilfest, a popular music festival held every year in Stoke Park, Guildford. Guilfest used to be called the Guildford Festival of Folk and Blues and will take place on July 4th and 5th this year. Along with their festival performance, Haircut 100 is releasing a new album called Boxing the Compass on June 19th. They have been touring around the UK, and their recent show in Glasgow was described as wild and energetic. Heyward said the crowd was amazing and it felt like a big celebration of life and music. The band is excited to bring that same energy to Guilfest, rain or shine, and they are grateful to still be performing together after all these years.
