Oxford University Draws Record Crowds with Art, History, and Radiohead Magic!

In 2025, the university's gardens, museums, and libraries welcomed 3. 8 million visitors, according to new data. This is a 7 percent increase from the previous year, and it marks the third year in a row that Oxford's attractions have grown faster than the national average. The Ashmolean Museum, which is part of the university, became the most visited attraction in Oxfordshire, drawing over one million visitors for the first time since it reopened in 2009.

The Association of Leading Visitor Attractions, or Alva, collected these numbers and found that the Ashmolean Museum was the 31st most visited attraction in the United Kingdom last year. One of the main reasons for the museum's popularity was a special exhibition about the band Radiohead, who are famous musicians from Oxford. The exhibition included album covers, posters, and other items related to the band, which attracted many fans and art lovers. The display about Radiohead was especially popular, and it helped bring in more visitors than usual.

Other attractions at Oxford University also did well. The Bodleian Libraries, the Oxford Museum of Natural History, and the Pitt Rivers Museum all made it into the top 100 most visited attractions in the country. The Oxford Botanic Garden and Arboretum was ranked 188th, and the History of Science Museum was 205th. Richard Ovenden, who is in charge of Oxford's attractions, said that the increase in visitors shows how much people enjoy the university's unique places and collections. He also said that the staff at these attractions work hard to make everyone feel welcome and to create interesting events and exhibitions.
