Peggy, a unique dog who is a mix of a pug and a Chinese crested, has taken the world by storm. Known as Britain's 'ugliest' dog, Peggy has a long, pink tongue and often wears a colorful bib. Her owner, Holly Middleton, describes Peggy's rise to fame as 'surreal. ' This unexpected journey began when Peggy was cast in the latest Marvel superhero film, Deadpool & Wolverine, alongside famous actors Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman. Holly, who lives in East Yorkshire, never imagined that her beloved pet would become a Hollywood star. 'Not in my wildest dreams did I think anything like that would have ever happened,' she said. The story of Peggy's fame started last year when she won a national contest for the ugliest dog. Holly recalls, 'When we submitted her picture to the ugly dog competition, I didn't think it would get to the heights it did. ' Despite her newfound fame and a growing fan base, Holly insists that Peggy has not changed much at home. 'She's still just plain old Peg,' she said, noting that Peggy has gained a bit more confidence thanks to the trainer who worked with her during the film's production. The family missed Peggy dearly while she was away filming. Holly has two boys who were sad without their furry friend. They kept Peggy's filming location a secret from the boys, which made her return even more special. 'I'm glad she's back. We missed her,' Holly said. Watching Peggy make her debut at the movie premiere in New York was an unforgettable experience for Holly. 'I loved it. Peggy looked really comfortable the entire time, as probably most people would being cuddled by Ryan Reynolds,' she shared. Holly observed how gentle the actors were with Peggy, showering her with affection. 'They seem to really, really love her, and they're so gentle with her,' she said. Holly cherished every moment of seeing Peggy shine on the big screen. 'She just looked so chilled and so happy,' she added. Currently, there are no plans for Peggy to take on more film roles. Holly emphasized that Peggy is primarily a family pet. 'First and foremost, she is a family pet,' she stated. Peggy enjoys spending time with her family, whether it's cuddling on the couch or snuggling in her bed. Despite her global recognition, Holly insists that Peggy is just like any other dog in their village. 'She absolutely loves attention and has become accustomed to turning people's heads,' she explained. Holly noted that before Peggy's fame, people would often whisper about her looks. However, since her rise to stardom, the public's perception of Peggy has changed for the better. 'When I read comments online, they're all very positive and very much in favor of Peggy, saying how beautiful she is,' Holly said. Peggy won the title of Britain's ugliest dog in January 2023, and now she is a beloved star.
