Authorities in West Northamptonshire, including the council, police, and fire and rescue service, have noticed more young people taking part in urban exploring. They are warning everyone about the serious dangers and legal problems that can come from this trend.

The council explains that these old buildings are not safe. Many of them have broken windows, weak floors, and overgrown weeds. There is also graffiti on the walls, and sometimes trash is left behind. Charlie Hastie, who works for the council, said that while urban exploring might seem exciting, the reality is that these buildings are very dangerous and could collapse. People who go inside could get seriously hurt or even lose their lives.

Another problem is that people are sharing their adventures on social media. In the comments, others often ask for tips or directions on how to get inside these buildings. This encourages even more people to try it, which increases the risk. The council says that entering these buildings without permission is a crime. People who do this could be prosecuted. In some places, there are special rules called Public Spaces Protection Orders that make it even more serious to go into these buildings. In 2019, some teenagers got lost in a sewer while exploring and had to be rescued by emergency services. The council wants everyone to remember that urban exploring is not worth the risk. It is important to stay safe and follow the law.
