In Edinburgh, a street artist known as The Rebel Bear created a mural on the side of Cables Wynd House, a well-known building in the Leith area. The mural shows a woman in a red dress and high heels kissing a man in a dark suit as they both appear to be falling through the air. The building, often called the Banana Flats because of its curved shape, is considered an important example of Scottish architecture. The artist received permission from the City of Edinburgh Council to paint the mural, but he did not get approval from the residents who live in the building.

Many residents were upset by the mural, saying it was distressing and reminded them of serious issues like suicide and domestic violence. They felt the image was inappropriate and could trigger painful memories for people in the community. The residents were surprised when the artist arrived with a cherry picker to paint the mural, even though the building manager and council workers challenged him. His identity is unknown, and he declined to comment on this incident. The council has said it will paint over the mural until they can find a way to remove it without damaging the building. Police Scotland is still investigating, and the council's housing convener explained that while planning permission was granted, the artist also needed consent from the building's owners and residents.
