Daniel Radcliffe Sends Magical Cheers to New Harry Potter Cast!
Daniel Radcliffe, the original Harry Potter from the famous film series, recently shared that he wrote a supportive letter to Dominic McLaughlin, the young actor who will play Harry Potter in the upcoming HBO TV adaptation. Radcliffe, who was only eleven when he first took on the role, wanted to encourage Dominic as he begins his own journey as the iconic wizard. After Dominic was cast, Radcliffe reached out to him directly, wishing him and his fellow cast members the best and expressing his hope that they would enjoy the experience even more than he did. Dominic responded with a heartfelt note, which Radcliffe described as very sweet.
Dominic McLaughlin will be joined by Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger and Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley. These three were selected from an open casting call that attracted over 30,000 hopefuls. Arabella has experience from starring as Matilda in the West End musical, while Dominic appeared in the comedy series Grow. Alastair, on the other hand, is new to acting and has no previous credits. The new series will also feature Lox Pratt as Draco Malfoy, Alessia Leoni as Parvati Patil, Leo Earley as Seamus Finnigan, Rory Wilmot as Neville Longbottom, and Amos Kitson as Dudley Dursley.
The adult cast includes well-known actors such as John Lithgow as Albus Dumbledore, Janet McTeer as Minerva McGonagall, Paapa Essiedu as Severus Snape, and Nick Frost as Rubeus Hagrid. Filming for the first season is already underway, with the show expected to premiere in 2027. The ambitious project aims to create a series for each of J. K. Rowling's seven Harry Potter books, meaning the production will span a decade. To support the young actors, Warner Bros Studios has received permission to build a temporary school at their Leavesden location, allowing the children to continue their studies while working on the show. Radcliffe reflected on his own experience, saying he feels protective of the new cast and hopes they have an amazing time bringing the magical world of Harry Potter to life.
