Sam Tompkins, a 27-year-old singer from East Sussex, is making a heartfelt plea for the return of a necklace that belonged to his late father. After experiencing a burglary at his home in Brighton on September 12, Sam discovered that a small window had been smashed. The burglars took several items, including his beloved Gibson acoustic guitar, his laptop, and all of his jewelry. However, the item that holds the most significance for him is a cross necklace that his father, John Tompkins, wore for over a decade before he passed away last November. Sam expressed that he is 'not bothered' about the other stolen items but 'just wants dad’s necklace back. ' The necklace is not just a piece of jewelry; it carries deep emotional value for Sam and his family. In an emotional statement, he shared, 'I told the forensic person that I lost my dad last year. ' When he realized that the necklace was missing, he felt a wave of sadness wash over him. 'My heart just totally dropped, and I was very upset,' he said. He immediately reached out to his siblings, who reassured him that it was not his fault. The necklace was kept in a safe place, but someone had taken it. Sam described the necklace as a 'pretty irrelevant item' to anyone else, but it means the world to his family. He explained that his father was a Christian man who found comfort in wearing the necklace. 'We have all felt an enormous depth of comfort knowing it’s there,' he said. Sam worries that the person who has the necklace does not understand its significance and may either sell it or discard it. He stated, 'I don’t want to live in fear; I have to carry on. My dad wouldn’t want me worried this much about the pendant. ' Sussex Police are currently investigating the burglary and are awaiting the results of a forensic examination. They reported that valuable items, including jewelry of sentimental value, a Gibson Hummingbird guitar, a laptop, and even champagne, were stolen. The police are urging anyone with information about the burglary to come forward.
