Joseph Chan Ho-lim, the undersecretary for financial services and the treasury, expressed his excitement about the transformation of Hong Kong's fintech industry. He emphasised that the focus is shifting from technology to its practical application. Keynote speeches will be delivered by the city's Chief Executive John Lee Ka-chiu, Financial Secretary Paul Chan Mo-po, and Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury Christopher Hui Ching-yu. The conference will also be attended by Eddie Yue Wai-man, CEO of the Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA), and Julia Leung Fung-yee, leader of the Securities and Futures Commission. The speaker list includes top executives from major banks such as Citi Hong Kong and Macau, Standard Chartered, and JPMorgan Hong Kong. The conference will cover six key themes: global regulations and sustainable finance; venture capital and family office investments; artificial intelligence; Web3 technology; the opportunities in the Greater Bay Area; and Hong Kong’s innovation journey. Saurabh Mundhra, head of treasury and trade solutions at Citi Hong Kong, emphasised the importance of fintech adoption for the sustainable growth of the entire financial industry. He also highlighted the role of partnerships between banks and fintech companies in accelerating the development of new capabilities and solutions. Following FinTech Week, the HKMA’s Global Financial Leader’s Investment Summit is scheduled to take place. Bojan Obradovic, chief digital officer at HSBC, expressed his anticipation for the innovations that will be presented at this year's FinTech Week. He stated that as a bank, they are keen to tap into these innovations. Tickets for FinTech Week are currently available for purchase, with prices set at US$599 for in-person attendees and US$100 for online attendees.
