Hong Kong Jockey Club partners with Rockefeller Foundation to bolster public health, protect vulnerable people from climate change

The Hong Kong Jockey Club, a prominent racing and gambling operator, has entered into a partnership with the Rockefeller Foundation, a renowned philanthropic organization that has been in existence for over a century. Their joint mission is to enhance public health on a global scale and shield the most susceptible individuals from the detrimental effects of climate change.

This collaboration was officially announced in Dubai during the inaugural Health Day conference at Cop28, a summit organized by the United Nations to address the pressing issue of climate change. The alliance's primary objective is to devise solutions that cater to everyone, with a particular emphasis on the estimated 3. 3 billion individuals who are most vulnerable to the repercussions of a shifting climate.

The Jockey Club has recently established the Institute of Philanthropy, acknowledging the necessity for global solutions and collaboration to tackle the myriad issues plaguing communities worldwide. Winfried Engelbrecht-Bresges, the CEO of the Jockey Club, stated that this collaboration, one of the institute's initial initiatives, is aimed at addressing the most urgent global issue - climate change, and its significant impact on public health. The Institute of Philanthropy and the Rockefeller Foundation intend to leverage their collective resources to construct a global network of human and technological resources, dedicated to fortifying global health resilience in the face of climate change.
