Celebrate 50 Years of Aardman Magic with Claymation Wonders!
A special exhibition is opening at the Young V and A museum in Bethnal Green, London, to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Aardman, the famous animation studio. This exhibition will showcase some of the actual clay models and props used in Aardman's most popular films, including Wallace and Gromit, Chicken Run, and Shaun the Sheep. Visitors will also get to enjoy interactive displays and see sets from these beloved movies, giving them a chance to step into the world of animation.
Alex Newson, the chief curator of the museum, explained that the goal of the exhibition is to inspire creativity in children. He hopes that by seeing the models and learning about how the films are made, kids will realize that they can use their own creativity in many ways. The exhibition is designed to show young people that creative skills can lead to exciting careers in animation and other creative industries. The show opens on Thursday and will run until November 15, giving fans plenty of time to visit and explore.
One of the highlights of the exhibition is the chance to see set models from Wallace and Gromit's kitchen, Lady Tottington, and the unique rocket from Wallace and Gromit: A Grand Day Out, which was released in 1989. There will also be installations from some of Aardman's earliest projects, as well as their latest film, A Vengeance Most Fowl. This movie recently won two Bafta awards and was nominated for an Oscar, and its set models and puppets will be on display for the first time. Other items in the exhibition include early character sketches, concept art, props, and even toys that use optical illusions. Alex Newson said that working with Aardman over the past 18 months has been an amazing experience. He described the studio's archive as rich and full of interesting items, and he feels privileged to have been able to select pieces from the past 50 years. Seeing everything come together in the gallery has been a very exciting moment for him, and he hopes visitors will leave feeling inspired to be creative in their own lives.
