Tragic Turns Amid Mexico City's Epic World Cup Victory Bash

After Mexico's national soccer team defeated Ecuador 2-0 in the World Cup knockout stages, more than one million people filled the streets of Mexico City to celebrate. The city was alive with excitement as fans dressed in green jerseys and waved Mexican flags, especially around the Angel of Independence monument in downtown. However, the celebrations took a tragic turn. According to the city's health authorities, three people died from suffocation during the crowded festivities. The victims included a 19-year-old woman, a 48-year-old woman, and a 44-year-old man. Emergency workers found them unconscious in different places along Paseo de la Reforma, a major street in the city. They tried to help by giving first aid and CPR before taking them to the hospital, but sadly, all three passed away. Their families later identified them.

Mexico City's mayor, Clara Brugada, expressed her deepest condolences to the families of those who died and promised to support them. She also reminded everyone to celebrate responsibly and to look out for each other during big events. Before the match, she had warned fans not to gather near the Angel of Independence because it was already very crowded. With over 20 million people living in the metropolitan area, Mexico City is one of the most crowded places in the world. Now, Mexico's team is moving on to the round of 16 in the World Cup, and fans are hopeful for more victories, possibly facing England in the next match if results go a certain way.
