Teen Songwriter Scores Big with Legendary Producer's Mentorship!

Rory Black, an 18-year-old music student from Cannock, Staffordshire, has had an incredible experience that he describes as 'surreal. ' Rory studies music at Telford College and recently entered a songwriting competition in Lichfield. His original song, 'Know My Name,' impressed the judges so much that he won first place. The competition was judged by Guy Chambers, a well-known music producer who has worked with famous artists like Robbie Williams, Kylie Minogue, Tina Turner, and Tom Jones.

As part of his prize, Rory got to perform his winning song live on stage, with Guy Chambers himself playing the piano. Rory said it was an unbelievable moment to share the stage with someone who has made such a big impact on the music industry. After the performance, Rory went to ask Guy to sign a CD for him, but instead, Guy gave him his phone number. The next day, they met for breakfast, and Guy began mentoring Rory, giving him advice about songwriting and the music business.

Rory has now been invited to record at Guy Chambers' Sleeper Sounds Studio in London later this year. He will also have the opportunity to perform at a concert in front of music industry executives, which could open even more doors for his future. Guy Chambers praised Rory's talent on social media, calling his song 'pretty much perfect' and saying that Rory plays guitar beautifully and sings like a bird. Johnathan Abbott, the creative and music learner manager at Telford College, said this is an amazing opportunity for Rory and shows how much hard work and creativity he puts into his music.
