Burton's Heritage Buildings Glow in Stunning Canvas of Light Festival

Burton-upon-Trent, a town in Staffordshire, is preparing for a unique art experience this December. Two of its most well-known heritage buildings, St Modwen's Church and the Bass Water Tower, will be transformed by a major light installation called Canvas of Light. The project is created by Luxmuralis, a group of artists known for their impressive light displays in cathedrals and other venues. The installation will feature vivid blue, yellow, pink, and purple lights that will illuminate the interiors and exteriors of these landmarks, creating an immersive and colorful atmosphere.

The event will run from December 18 to December 20, and visitors are invited to explore the light projections free of charge. The light trail will also include the recently renovated Memorial Gardens, which connect the two buildings. In addition to the stunning visual displays, there will be a festive market and live entertainment, making it a full holiday experience for families and friends. Councillor Paul Walker, who is responsible for tourism and cultural development, expressed his excitement about the event. He said that Burton is going through many exciting changes, and Canvas of Light is a brand-new way to celebrate the town during the festive season. He believes it is a wonderful opportunity for both residents and visitors to see Burton's landmarks in a completely new light.

The event is expected to bring a boost to the town, especially following the Christmas lights switch-on at Burton Market Place on November 23, which will feature a funfair, music, and fireworks. The Canvas of Light installation will be open from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm each evening, allowing people to enjoy the lights after dark. The organizers hope that the combination of the light trail, festive market, and live entertainment will create a memorable experience for the community. People are encouraged to take photos and share their experiences, helping to showcase Burton in a new and vibrant way.
