Young Artist's Ocean-Themed Cards Make Waves for Charity!

Harry, an 11-year-old boy from Newquay, has found a creative way to support ocean conservation. With his blond hair and favorite red fleece, Harry spends a lot of time at Crantock beach with his mother, Sarah. Inspired by his love for art and the sea, Harry began drawing and painting his own greeting cards. He sells these cards at a local beach shop, and the money he earns goes to the Marine Conservation Society. So far, Harry has raised over one thousand pounds for the charity. His cards feature detailed illustrations of marine life, such as spider crabs, tropical fish, and lobsters. Harry is passionate about protecting the ocean, saying, 'We need the ocean for so many things and we're destroying it. ' He hopes his cards will encourage others to care for the environment.

One unique aspect of Harry's cards is the use of marine-themed puns, which make them both fun and educational. For example, one of his hand-drawn birthday cards shows a colorful fish swimming among seaweed. Harry's efforts have caught the attention of well-known conservationists like Sir David Attenborough and Steve Backshall, who have sent him messages of encouragement. Harry believes that even small actions, like picking up a piece of plastic on the beach, can make a big difference. 'You could have just saved a fish's life,' he says. He wants to spread the message that everyone can help protect the ocean, no matter how young or old they are.

Harry's inspiration comes from the children's book series 'Harry and His Bucket Full of Dinosaurs. ' He enjoys reading and often gets new ideas for his cards from stories and his own experiences at the beach. His mother, Sarah, is extremely proud of him and is considering creating a website to showcase his artwork. She says, 'I just couldn't be prouder, I just think he's awesome. ' Sarah admires how passionate and informed children are today, noting that Harry knows much more about conservation than she did at his age. Harry hopes that by sharing his art and message, more people will join him in helping to save the ocean. He plans to continue drawing, selling cards, and raising awareness for as long as he can.
