Steve Buscemi: NYPD arrest suspect in random assault on actor

Police in New York City have arrested a suspect after actor Steve Buscemi was punched in a random attack. The attack occurred on 8 May while Buscemi was walking in Manhattan. Although the police did not name the suspect they arrested, they had earlier identified Clifton Williams, 50, as a suspect. Buscemi, known for his starring role in the television series Boardwalk Empire, required hospital treatment after suffering bruises and a bloody eye. The suspect, Mr. Williams, is believed to be homeless. The NYPD did not specify the charges the suspect could face. In a statement after the incident, Buscemi's publicist said the actor was 'another victim' of a random act of violence in the city. The publicist also mentioned that Buscemi is okay and appreciates everyone's well wishes, but is incredibly sad for everyone that this has happened to while walking the streets of New York. There have been reports of random attacks in the city, and the police have seen an increase in assaults. Despite this, crime in New York City has fallen year on year. Buscemi, a New Yorker who once worked as a firefighter, won a Golden Globe award for his role in Boardwalk Empire.
