Cheshire Musician and Slade's Noddy Holder Jam on Heartland Hit

Tom Seals, a musician from Cheshire, has teamed up with Noddy Holder, the legendary frontman of the band Slade, to create a new song for his latest album. Tom’s journey in music began in his mother’s back garden in Crewe, where he would play and practice. During the lockdown, Tom started filming his own music series and shared it on YouTube. His videos became popular, and soon Sky TV turned his show into a celebrity and live music chat show. It was on this show that Tom met Noddy Holder, a well-known musician from the Black Country, and the two quickly became friends.

Noddy Holder approached Tom with an idea for a song inspired by his wife Suzan’s novel, Rock and Rose. The story in the novel is about a love for music and the famous American cities Memphis and Nashville, which are known for their musical history. Together, Tom and Noddy wrote the song Heading for the Heartlands. The song is featured on Tom’s new album, Live from London, which was released on Friday. Tom described how the lyrics of the song came to him at a time when he really needed them, and he feels very grateful for the experience. He also shared that he and Noddy have become such good friends that they now go out for dinner together every week.

Slade, the band Noddy Holder is famous for, was formed in Wolverhampton in 1966 and became very successful with songs like Mama Weer All Crazee Now and the holiday classic Merry Xmas Everybody. Tom Seals has also played with other well-known musicians, including Jools Holland and Gregory Porter. Tom said that Heading for the Heartlands is a mix of rock and roll, jazz, blues, boogie-woogie, and swing. He is proud that the song is performed live, with all its real moments and even mistakes. Tom is excited because there is a chance the song might make it into the official Jazz and Blues charts.
