Jesy Nelson Celebrates Body Confidence After Welcoming Twin Miracles
Jesy Nelson, who was once a member of the popular girl group Little Mix, has recently shared her feelings about her body after giving birth to twin daughters. Jesy left Little Mix in 2020 to focus on her mental health and has since started a solo music career. In May, she welcomed her twin girls, Ocean Jade and Story Monroe, with her fiancé Zion Foster, a musician she got engaged to last month. Jesy posted on Instagram, expressing that she has 'never felt prouder' of her body since becoming a mother. She shared photos of herself in her underwear, holding her newborn daughters, and talked about how her body has changed over the years. For 33 years, Jesy struggled with her body image, trying different diets and wishing for a flatter stomach and a smaller waist. She even considered getting a boob job. But now, after giving birth, she feels proud of her body for what it has accomplished. Jesy said, 'Yes, my boobs hang lower and my belly is bigger and squishier – it doesn't look how it used to, but my god it created the best gift that has ever happened to me. ' She wants other mothers to be kind to themselves and not feel pressured to 'snap back' to their old bodies after giving birth. Jesy encourages moms to remember what their bodies have done and to treat themselves with kindness.
Jesy's pregnancy was not easy. She gave birth to her twins prematurely at 31 weeks because she had rare complications. Earlier in her pregnancy, Jesy had surgery to prevent problems caused by twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome (TTTS), a condition where twins share blood in an unbalanced way through their placenta. This can cause one baby to get more blood than the other, which is dangerous. Jesy said the operation was successful and she felt lucky to have great doctors. She also shared that her twins are monochorionic diamniotic (MCDA), meaning they share one placenta but have separate amniotic sacs. Jesy and Zion took photos in the hospital with their newborn daughters. In one picture, Jesy is sitting with one of the girls on her chest, and the baby is wearing a knitted beanie. Zion is holding the other baby, dressed in a hospital gown, and one of the babies has a medical tube to help her.
Jesy left Little Mix to protect her mental health, especially after facing online abuse. She talked about this issue in a documentary in 2019, saying it had pushed her to her breaking point. Since leaving the group, Jesy has released solo music, including her single 'Boyz' with Nicki Minaj in 2021. Little Mix, which also included Leigh-Anne Pinnock, Perrie Edwards, and Jade Thirlwall, was formed on The X Factor in 2011 and became one of the UK's biggest girl groups, with several top 10 albums and number one singles. The group announced a break in 2021 but said they were not splitting up for good. Jesy is now focused on her family and wants to inspire other mothers to appreciate their bodies and the amazing things they can do.
