Guitars owned by Massive Attack musician fetch £20k

Recently, a collection of musical instruments that belonged to Angelo Bruschini, the talented guitarist from the renowned band Massive Attack, was auctioned off for over £20,000. Angelo, who hailed from Bristol, was a significant figure in the music scene and contributed greatly to the band's sound. The auction was organized by his family and took place at Gardiner Houlgate auctioneers located in Corsham, Wiltshire. Luke Hobbs, the head of the guitar department at Gardiner Houlgate, shared that they conduct four specialized guitar auctions each year, and this particular auction was their largest ever, featuring a total of 1,879 lots, with an impressive 90% of them sold. The auction also showcased items from other famous bands, including Ultravox and Status Quo. Angelo Bruschini was not only a member of Massive Attack but also played in several other bands, such as Blue Aeroplanes. His work was prominently featured on Massive Attack's critically acclaimed 1998 album, Mezzanine. Among the items sold, the standout piece was a 1968 Fender Telecaster Thinline guitar, which was used extensively throughout his career and during the recording of Mezzanine. Mr. Hobbs noted that this guitar can be distinctly heard at the end of the track Angel. This particular guitar fetched a price of £4,550. The auction drew international interest, with collectors, musicians, and fans participating in the bidding from various regions, including the US, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia. Mr. Hobbs remarked that the sale was a tremendous success, reflecting a vibrant market and the ongoing popularity of these musical instruments.
