Meet the New Cast Rocking The Beatles' Hamburg Beginnings on BBC!

The BBC is making a new six-part drama series called Hamburg Days, which will focus on the early years of the Beatles. This series will show how the Beatles, who started as a group of teenagers from Liverpool, became the most famous band in the world. The story will take place in Germany, where the Beatles played many concerts before they were famous. The cast includes some well-known actors. Christine Tremarco, who has won a Bafta award, will play John Lennon's aunt, Mimi Smith, who raised him. Asa Butterfield, known for his role in Sex Education, will play Brian Epstein, the Beatles' manager from 1961 until he died in 1967. Jonny Lee Miller, who starred in Trainspotting, will play Paul McCartney's father, Jim.

The actors playing the Beatles themselves are Rhys Mannion as John Lennon, Ellis Murphy as Paul McCartney, Harvey Brett as George Harrison, Louis Landau as Stuart Sutcliffe, and Patrick Gilmore as Pete Best. The series will also feature Luna Jordan as Astrid Kirchherr, Laura Tonke as Astrid's mother Nielsa, and Casper von Bülow as Klaus Voormann. Klaus Voormann was a young artist who met the Beatles in Hamburg and later designed the cover for their famous album Revolver. The show will explore the band's time in Hamburg, where they performed over 250 gigs between 1960 and 1962. At that time, the Beatles included Stuart Sutcliffe on bass and Pete Best on drums.

The series is inspired by Klaus Voormann's memoirs and will show how the Beatles met him and photographer Astrid Kirchherr. The script was written by Jamie Carragher, who also worked on the HBO show Succession. Christian Schwochow, who directed episodes of The Crown, is the showrunner, and Bafta-winner David Holmes will be in charge of the music. Filming began in May in both Germany and Liverpool. The Beatles are the best-selling music act of all time, with 18 UK number one singles and 16 number one albums. In addition to Hamburg Days, four new Beatles movies are being made by director Sam Mendes, with different actors playing each band member. The BBC has not yet announced when Hamburg Days will be released, but it will be available on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
