With window on limiting global warming closing fast, ‘urgent course correction’ is needed to speed up decarbonisation

Hello students! Our Earth is heating up quickly, and if we don't act now, we might face some serious problems like extreme weather and rising sea levels. Scientists have warned us that we need to limit the increase in Earth's temperature to 1. 5 degrees Celsius to avoid the worst effects of climate change. To achieve this, we need to make big changes and reduce the harmful gases we release into the atmosphere. By 2025, these emissions should start to decrease, and by 2030, we should cut them down by almost half.

Electric cars are becoming more popular, which is great because they don't pollute as much. But in many other areas, we're not doing enough. We're still cutting down too many trees and not investing enough money in clean energy. World leaders will soon meet to discuss how to speed up our efforts to protect the environment. A famous scientist, James Hansen, has also warned that if we don't change our ways, the Earth will get too hot too soon.

To keep the Earth cool, we need to stop using coal for electricity and protect our forests. We also need to make clean energy like solar and wind power cheaper and easier for everyone to use.
