Hackers Snatch Luxury Brand Data: Gucci, Balenciaga & McQueen Targeted!

A group of hackers known as Shiny Hunters has stolen private data from customers of luxury fashion brands Gucci, Balenciaga, and Alexander McQueen. The stolen information includes names, email addresses, phone numbers, home addresses, and details about how much money customers spent at these stores. The parent company, Kering, confirmed the data breach and said it has notified the people affected and the authorities. Fortunately, no credit card or bank account information was taken, but the amount of money spent by each customer was included in the stolen data. Some customers spent more than $10,000, and a few spent up to $86,000, which could make them targets for future scams.

Shiny Hunters claims to have data from 7. 4 million unique email addresses, suggesting millions of people could be affected. The hackers shared a sample of the stolen data with the BBC, and it appeared to be genuine. The breach happened in April, and the hackers tried to get Kering to pay a ransom in Bitcoin, but the company refused and said it did not negotiate with the criminals. Kering has since improved its security systems to prevent further attacks. This incident is part of a larger trend, as other luxury brands like Cartier and Louis Vuitton have also experienced similar cyber-attacks recently.
