Councillor Owen Bierley from West Lindsey District Council described WordFest as a wonderful celebration of creativity, storytelling, and community. He said it is fantastic to see such a wide range of events happening across the town, encouraging people of all ages to get involved, try something new, and enjoy everything the district has to offer.
Some of the highlights of the festival include a Winnie the Pooh family kite craft workshop, where families can make and decorate their own kites. Author Gillian Poucher will be presenting a talk called A Question of Perspective, and Helen Hagon will be exploring why Lincolnshire is known as the Home of Poets. Isabelle Macpherson, also from West Lindsey District Council, said the event is a brilliant opportunity to bring people together through stories, creativity, and shared experiences. She added that the council is delighted to support an event that celebrates the important role culture plays in strengthening communities. The full programme of events will be released soon, and some activities can be booked in advance. WordFest is a great chance for everyone in Gainsborough and nearby areas to come together, learn, and have fun through the power of stories and creativity.
