Girl designs Superman film age classification card

Elsie, a 14-year-old girl from Eastbourne in East Sussex, has achieved something remarkable by designing the new age classification card for the upcoming Superman film. This card, which will be displayed before every screening of the movie in UK cinemas, replaces the traditional black card that simply showed the 12A rating. The 12A rating means that children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult to watch the film. Elsie’s design features Superman in his classic blue, red, and yellow costume, bursting out from a background filled with colorful streaks. The word 'Superman' and a bright orange circle with '12A' in the center make the card stand out.

Elsie entered a competition organized by the British Board of Film Classification, or BBFC, which asked secondary school students across the UK to create a new age rating card for Superman. She said she wanted her design to be eye-catching and to use colors that would really pop on the cinema screen. Elsie explained that it took her several attempts to get the design just right. She started by sketching her ideas and then used watercolors and paint pens to bring her vision to life. Her hard work paid off when her design was chosen as the winner from hundreds of entries.

As part of her prize, Elsie got to meet the stars of the new Superman film, including David Corenswet, who plays Superman, Rachel Brosnahan, who plays Lois Lane, and Nicholas Hoult. She also met the film’s director, James Gunn. Elsie said that meeting the cast and director was the highlight of her life, and she was thrilled to miss a day of school for such an exciting reason. She tried to stay calm during the meeting, but later she couldn’t stop telling her friends about it. Elsie is a huge Superman fan and has probably watched the movies at least 50 times. Her mother, Liz, said the family is extremely proud of her achievement and can’t wait to see her artwork on the big screen. Elsie’s story is a great example of how creativity and passion can lead to amazing opportunities, and now her design will be seen by thousands of people across the UK every time they go to see the new Superman movie.
