Isle of Man's Northern Lights Put on a Stunning Pink and Green Show!

Residents of the Isle of Man were treated to a breathtaking display of the Northern Lights overnight, as vibrant pink, red, and green colors lit up the sky across the island. The Aurora Borealis, as the phenomenon is known, occurs when particles from space interact with the Earth's atmosphere, creating stunning patterns and colors in the night sky.

Photographer Chris Kirkham described the experience as 'completely unreal' after the clouds cleared, allowing the lights to shine brightly. He was able to see the colors with his own eyes, which he said was amazing. Craig Dalton, who watched the event from the Mountain Road overlooking Ramsey, said the colors were 'vivid and really strong to the naked eye. ' Robert Currey, who saw the lights from his bedroom window in Santon, woke up just after 3 am to see shafts of light streaming down from above. He described the sky as changing from deep purple to brilliant pink, fading into green above the trees, and called it 'the most spectacular Aurora Borealis I've ever seen. '

Other locals also enjoyed the show. Nick Shimmin watched the dramatic sky from Douglas Head, where the statue of Sir William Hillary overlooks Douglas Bay. Chris Kirkham captured the night sky near a telecoms tower, looking toward the center of the island, and called the sight 'completely unreal. ' The UK Met Office Space Weather forecast said there is a good chance of seeing the Northern Lights again on Wednesday evening and night. Sarah Gabriel-Lawton watched the light show from her garden in St Johns, where shards of light pierced a pink sky above the trees. The aurora was also bright over Fenella Beach in Peel, with the horizon over the Irish Sea showing a strip of pale green and pink sky above.
